Priyanka and Katrina in Italian Job Buzz up!

Abbas Mustan are tightlipped, but buzz is Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif will be a part of the remake of the Italian Job.

The director duo have had their heart set on remaking the 2003 Mark Wahlberg starrer smash hit. After the success of Race, while a sequel of the movie was being planned, the director’s decided to devote their attention to this multi-crore project. Abbas Mustan who have been accused of lifting several Hollywood films in the past decided to go in for a direct adaptation with producers Studio 18 buying the right of the Hollywood blockbuster. However the director’s insist that it isn’t a direct lift and several changes have been made in the script and characters, “Whenever we've adapted a film we've completely Indianized the story. Though Studio 18 has bought the rights and though we can use every frame from the original same-to-same, we don't want to do that. We're going to Indianize The Italian Job. We'll add roles for two heroines. And the villain will be played by one of the top heroes. We want to make it better than the original,” says Abbas.

Abhishek Bachchan, Neil Nitin Mukesh have been zeroed down as the main leads and Katrina with whom the makers were in talks with has finally been roped in according to sources. Apart from Katrina, news is Priyanka Chopra too will be a part of the film. A source from the production house says, “Abbas while rewriting the script had already written in two actresses as compared to the original just had one, Charlize Theron. While Katrina had been roped in way earlier formalities were yet to be undertaken. Priyanka has been through several story sessions and the directors are very keen on roping her in as well. They also have an American actress in mind. Still as of now, there still a lot of scripting changes and the casting process needs a lot of work indeed. The entire industry wants to be a part of the movie considering the fact that its going to be much bigger and better.”

Abbas brushed off the news of Priyanka and Kat being confirmed for the movie but said that they were being considered for the roles. Speaking about their ambitious next he added, “Studio 18 thought of us for an Indian Italian Job after seeing how we shot the chase sequences in Race. Two years ago to execute the intricate action scenes in The Italian Job would've been tough. Today we can comfortably pull it off. Our producers are willing to go all out. No expenses will be spared to make sure our The Italian Job is as good as the original. The chase sequences and action will leave the audience in awe and the heists will be out of the world, we are trying to one up ourselves. The Italian Job was a cult film in Hollywood. In the remake, we will maintain that cult factor, except that we will add an Indian element.”
